Educators of all kinds will be able to share their experiences and insights at these meetings. Breakfasts will be planned with educators, field trips to conferences and locals schools. Parkland students will have an opportunity to experience the world of teaching through this organization.
The newly formed Parkland College Student Education Association, an affiliate of the IEA Student Program, will meet on Wednesday, April 1, 2009 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in room D219. At this time, you can sign-up and pay an entry fee of $22 (by debit or credit card only). If you cannot attend this meeting, you can e-mail ParklandSEA@gmail.com to set up other arrangements.
If your entry fee is already paid, you can attend a conference at the University of Illinois Education building on April 4. More information will be available on April 1 during sign up.
The first official meeting will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2009 to elect other officers and formulate a constitution for the organization. Members of the IEA Student Program will also be a part of the larger Illinois Education Association, which represents over 128,000 members in the state. They will also be a part of the National Education Association, which is composed of over two million members and is important in shaping the nations education goals. Many four year universities are involved with the professional student programs as well.
In addition to this extensive network of students and professional teachers, members receive many benefits. They include a rebate for their entry fees of up to $80 when the member enters the profession and becomes an active teaching member of the IEA.
